NOTE : This Mud Silk is made with a silk fabric base of nature wild Tussah Silk. Not smooth as standard silk, it has denim/jean fabric feel. A thick mud silk good for Autumn/Winter jackets, etc.
About Tussah Silk:
Quite different than mulberry silk, tussah silk is considered much more rough, dull, light resistant and durable. It also has good corrosion resistance, moisture absorption, beathability.
Every tussah silk will naturely have rough fiber knots here and there.🍃
Gambiered Canton Silk (also known as Mud Silk) is a traditional and special silk fabric produced only in ShunDe Guangdong which is dyed with plant and then with local mud. It takes months to produce and each production is unique with limited metres. Due to its handmade procedure, all the fabrics will naturally have few black spots, white/brown marks, color stains, etc, especially on the back side of the silk. It also will have small holes, color difference and scratches on the 5cm fabric edges.
Mulberry Oil Silk Knotted Silk Fabric · Fragrant Cloud Gauze
Mulberry oil silk has the advantages of good breathability and strong drape feeling. In autumn and winter, oil silk fabrics are generally thicker and stiffer compared to other real silks. However, due to the short fibers and other impurities in the raw silk materials, oil silk fabrics tend to have an uneven texture and may resemble coarse or linen fabrics.
Combining the base embryo of mulberry oil silk with the traditional handcrafting technique of "fragrant cloud gauze" after years of refinement, the fabric's charm is magnified once again. The rich oriental beauty it exudes upon lingering is irresistible, with a taste that is genuine, refreshing, and smooth, exhibiting a supple and resilient quality with a firm yet flexible structure. It is incomparable to ordinary silk.
