About HUALUO Mud Silk
HUALUO was one of the top four types of silk fabrics reserved for royal families in ancient China. Known for its unique weaving technique, HUALUO features an openwork texture reminiscent of cicada wings, making it exceptionally light and breathable. This fabric is characterized by its many small holes, providing excellent ventilation and making it cool and comfortable to wear, particularly in summer.
In ancient times, "luo" (gauze) was the most esteemed among all silks and satins, symbolizing the wealth and status of high-ranking officials and nobility. Recognized as an intangible cultural heritage, HUALUO is celebrated for its distinctive and exquisite style. It remains highly valued for its lightness, thinness, and breathability.
Mud Silk HUALUO is a special type of silk produced by applying plant-based dyes and a river mud coating to the HUALUO fabric. The fabric is then sun-dried and washed to remove the mud. This process is repeated several times in months, resulting in a unique and exquisite silk. The multiple layers of treatment give Mud Silk HUALUO its characteristic sheen and texture, enhancing its durability and adding a natural, earthy elegance to the already prestigious HUALUO fabric.
