Gambiered Canton Silk (also known as Mud Silk) is a traditional and unique silk fabric that is produced exclusively in Shunde, Guangdong. It is dyed using plants and local mud, and the production process takes several months. Each production run is limited, resulting in unique fabrics with limited meters of production. Due to its handmade process, all fabrics naturally have a few black spots, white/brown marks, and color stains, especially on the backside of the silk. Additionally, the fabric may have small holes, color differences, and scratches on the 5cm fabric edges.
This special silk fabric is durable and easy to sew, making it an ideal material for Summer/Autumn garments. If the weight of the mud silk fabric is over 35 momme or if it's spun mud silk, it can be used for lightweight jackets, trench coats, pants, and even home decor.
