Proper care helps preserve the natural beauty, texture, and longevity of fine fabrics.
Most CROSE Fabrics silk fabrics can be gently washed at home unless otherwise noted.
SILK FABRICS
Professional dry cleaning is recommended.
If washing at home, silk fabrics—except Mud Silk (Gambiered Canton Silk)—should be pre-washed before sewing.
Recommended care:
Use a detergent formulated specifically for silk
Hand wash or machine wash on the gentlest cycle
Use lukewarm water with a maximum temperature of 30°C / 86°F
Hang dry or lay flat to dry
Avoid strong direct sunlight
Steam or iron on the reverse side at low heat
Do not tumble dry.
Do not bleach or use soap.
MUD SILK (GAMBIERED CANTON SILK)
Mud Silk is traditionally plant-dyed and finished through a natural process. To preserve its unique texture and color, gentle care is recommended:
Hand wash only
Use mild detergent
Air dry naturally
Avoid prolonged soaking
WOOL AND CASHMERE FABRIC
Dry clean only to preserve the softness and structure of the fibers.
PRE-WASHING BEFORE SEWING
For all fabrics, except wool and Mud Silk, pre-washing is recommended before cutting or sewing. This allows the fabric to relax naturally and helps minimize shrinkage after the garment is completed.
FABRIC HANDLING
Fine silk fabrics should be handled carefully during cutting and sewing:
Use sharp scissors or a rotary cutter
Test stitching on a small fabric piece first
Use fine needles suitable for silk
Align patterns carefully when working with jacquard or printed fabrics
NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS
Natural silk may show slight variations in texture, sheen, or color tone. These variations are inherent to genuine silk and traditional textile craftsmanship.
COLOR AND DYE CHARACTERISTICS
Plant-dyed fabrics, including Mud Silk, may develop subtle tonal variations over time. This is a natural characteristic of traditional dyeing methods and part of the fabric’s unique beauty.
